Color and social voyeurism without the passes

How Color app looks like in your iPhone

Social mobile voyeurism is on the rise. And Facebook will be another story if the new mobile phone application, Color, will tick.
Color is one of a kind location – based, photo sharing application that allows access and sharing with other people’s data, particularly those who are within 150 – feet radius around you –photos, music, and videos is made largely possible without the use of usernames, passwords or even no need for requests of friendships.
It enable one to look at people’s background around him / her without the need to actively socialize, as well as looking at shared photos at different perspectives. That is, you will be able to look at other’s people’s files, journals or updates without their permission and know them better even without talking, as long as they are within your reach.
The app which is currently available to iPhones and Google Android smartphones is the brainchild of Bill Nguyen, who is also the executive developer of the site Lala.com aims to break into people’s current group of friends and be able to know the people around them. You will know more about that mysterious officemate or that quirky neighbour whom you haven’t added or whom you don’t normally see in your list of your usual Facebook friends.
Another interesting technology is that, as Color works using extensive GPS technology, ambient noise or even lights, it sends out feeds of people who are within the radius of 50 feet around you whom you have had a recent contact with. As you are able to see others in your “mini – community” on a first – name basis, you also appear  in the app and those around you, they will also “see” you in return in this kind of brand new sharing. However, as you move in the real world, or change your location, or if you don’t engage in the streams, the contacts you have not updates slowly fade away over time.
Of course, this is app is a really good and interesting idea. According to a social expert, Mike McGuire, the dynamic Color app is the real test to see if dynamic social networkers are prepared to take another pace toward further sharing and reduced privacy.
For me, aside from being swamped by images from people I hardly know of, the only dilemma that I have for using this app is that I am afraid that my hard –earned and greatly treasured privacy will be invaded. And I never want to happen that, especially if used by people whom I barely know personally.
